I had heard of the work of Fields of life for some time and I was very glad of the opportunity to get out there and see first-hand what was going on in Uganda.
Uganda is a beautiful country with a lot going for it, but it also has a terrible history of war, and many of the children we met had been born into impossible situations. Fields of Life is trying hard to give these children a hope and an opportunity for the future.
We visited a FoL School on the edge of a slum that took children living in absolute poverty, through sponsorship paid their school fees, and gave them a chance to break free of their poverty.
We also met children that had time to go to school because Fields of life had dug a well in their village, saving them from walking hours to the next well. This education opened up doors that would never have been imaginable to them otherwise.
The Water for Life project aims to purchase a second rig for Fields of Life. This will make a huge difference to thousands of Ugandans, providing clean water with no risk of water borne diseases that kill so many children and adults.
